We are so enthusiastic about  launching the first unofficial virtual challenge for Theale Village: Over the last 12 months or so, the impact of Covid has placed a huge strain on all of us in so many ways. Our community and schools have missed out on so much of the usual, much needed, organised events such as the Green Park Challenge, School Fayres etc. So a few us locals had the idea to build a virtual distance challenge to help support our school and village as well as build some community spirit. It’s all about getting out, feeling great and most importantly having some FUN - Oh and if you can manage a donation then it’s all for a great cause so you can feel good about that too :-)

How it works:

The challenge will run from Friday 9th April 7am - Sunday 18th 5pm.

This is not an organised event as such, but rather an online, virtual challenge that must be completed independently at your own convenience and at your own risk.

Anyone can participate, the idea being to run or walk around the village in your own time, as far as you like, as fast as you like and as many times as you like within the allotted time of the challenge and all you need to do is record / track your distance on each occasion (use Strava, MapMyRun, or any other exercise app) and then visit this challenge page to complete the form to the right. You can add your milage immediately either after each exercise or you can total them up when it suits (as long as it is before the cut-off time), although the leader board will me more exciting if you update as quickly as you can.

Participants are encouraged to log as many sessions as they can from Friday 9th April until Sunday 18th at 5pm. We will have a top 10 total distance leader board as there nothing like a bit of healthy competition to motivate!

Fun prizes will be awarded to the child who covers the most overall distance from KS1 and then KS2, and finally there will be a prize for the over 18 year old with the most total distance.

There is no participation fee, but we would be so grateful if you could make a donation (see below) in support of Theale C of E school PTA. This donation could be in the form of personal sponsor to achieve your own targets, or just your own participation donation. Its all about having fun and getting out and about in the village. Let’s see how much we can raise for the school!
